TOPIC: WINNING OR LOSING THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
In
Numbers 13 and 14, Moses sent twelve men to spy the Canaan land. "Now they departed and came back to
Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the
wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the
congregation,..." Also read Numbers 13:26-28, 30.
Ten
out of the twelve were living by sight. You can't walk in faith if what you see
controls you. They acknowledged that what God said about the land is true, the
land flows with milk and honey but they concluded that they could not possess
that land because of the strong men in the land. God didn't ask them to
consider that. Losers always complain about the situations that could not allow
them to achieve. Achievers look at adverse situation and considers it as
opportunity to prove the faithfulness of God. Caleb a man of faith wouldn't
want to continue hearing unbelief from the people, so quieted the people and
said. "Let us go up at once and
take possession, for we are well able to overcome it." What gives
Caleb conviction, the promise of God, the Word of God. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen" Hebrews 11:1. Faith is the evidence that you what you
have not yet seen. It is the conviction that you will reach your destiny. Before
everybody's mind is full of unbelief Caleb said they should go at once and take
possession. Words of rebellion and unbelief are contagious. They spread like
cankerworm.
“But the men who had gone up with him
said, we are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than
we. And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they
had spied out, saying,.."
Numbers 13:31-33. Unbelief can never see anything good in himself. He lives by
the circumstances around him. He lives by what he sees. While we do not deny
the reality of what we see but we believe that the Word of God is real and
supersedes what we see. Can you imagine the people of God saying they were like
grasshopper. Unbelief turned giants into grasshoppers and grasshoppers into
giants. The people who were giants never saw themselves so because of unbelief.
Romans 8:31 says "If God is for us,
who can be against us?"
In chapter 14 unbelief of the people brought
confusion and rebellion into the congregation of Moses. This has always been
the result of unbelief. The Bible says God is not the author of confusion.
Confusion set into a life when unbelief is at work. Read Numbers 14:6-10.
Joshua
and Caleb were living by faith. They upheld the integrity of God's word. They
refused to allow what they saw rule over the power in the Word of God. They did
not deny the presence of the giants and it was why they told the people, "If the LORD delights in us, then He will
bring us into this land and give it to us, the land which flows with milk and
honey." They were fully persuaded of the promise of God. They as a
result of their conviction warned the people not to rebel against God nor be
afraid of the people. Unbelief is rebelling against God's word. It breeds fear
of the circumstance and situation around you. It gets you into loosing the
blessing. Read Numbers 14:26-31. Can you see what unbelief can cause a life. It
will deprive you totally of you inheritance and possibly loose your life before
time. Unbelief will always speak against God's word. Unbelief is always
negative. God told the people "just
as you have spoken in My hearing" so I will do to you." Jesus
says you will have what you say (see Mark 11 verse 23) You've got to choose
your word. Let it flow in line with God's word. You've got to as well choose
what you hear. Jesus says "Take
heed what you hear." Mark 4:24. Faith or unbelief is based on what you
hear. If you listen to words of unbelief, your life will reflect unbelief.
If you listen to people talk about how bad the
economy in the country is you will not be able to something great out of the
nation economy. Romans 10 verse 17 says "Faith
comes by hearing and hearing the word of God." As faith comes by words of faith, fear and unbelief as
well come by words of fear and unbelief. Choose!
Winning or loosing in life is your choice to make. Many are where they are
right now because of the choice they made. We try to put everything back on
God. God made us in His image and likeness. God choose to live right, He choose
to live by His word. What you make out of life is your choice.
Choose
to win. Choose to succeed. God says, "I
call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before
you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life that both you
and your descendants may live." Deuteronomy 30:19.
